J&K Govt Approves 50% Hike in Payment for Teachers

In a move aimed at bolstering the realm of sports education in the picturesque region of Jammu and Kashmir, the Administrative Council (AC) chaired by Lieutenant Governor Sh. Manoj Sinha has approved a substantial 50% hike in honorarium for 2417 Rehbar-e-Khel(s) (ReK) physical education teachers affiliated with the Youth Services and Sports Department.

The decision, made during a pivotal meeting attended by eminent officials including Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar, Advisor to the Lieutenant Governor, Atal Dulloo, Chief Secretary, and Mandeep Kumar Bhandari, Principal Secretary to Lieutenant Governor.

Signifies a significant stride towards recognizing and bolstering the pivotal role played by these educators in nurturing budding talents in the realm of sports.

This momentous development stems from the recommendations put forth by a High Powered Committee, meticulously constituted under the leadership of the Chief Secretary in 2021.

The committee’s resounding advocacy for a notable 50% increase in honorarium for Rehbar-e-Khel teachers underscores the crucial recognition of their invaluable contributions towards fostering a culture of sports and fitness among the youth.

The enhanced honorarium not only serves as a testament to the dedication and hard work of these physical education teachers but also serves as a crucial incentive to further motivate and empower them in their noble endeavor of promoting and popularizing sports activities within the educational landscape of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

It is envisaged that this significant hike in honorarium will not only bolster the morale of ReKs but will also serve as a catalyst in fostering a vibrant ecosystem conducive to the holistic development of students, ultimately contributing to the overall socio-cultural fabric of the region.
